Lodges of the Sovereign Grand Lodge of Malta

Founded 1851 as Leinster Lodge 378 IC and 2004 as Mikiel Anto Vassalli Lodge I – SGLOM

The former name of Mikiel Anton Vassalli Lodge No I was the Leinster Lodge No 387 of the Irish Constitution. After a petition by several Irish Masons the Lodge was granted a warrant on the 1st November 1851 and held its first meeting on the 12th January 1852. The meeting was held in Floriana and the first Master was Brother Edward Greshen.

Founded 1756 as 14th Dragoons Lodge 273 IC and 1899 as Abercorn Lodge 273 IC, then in 2004 as Abercorn Lodge II – SGLOM

In 1751 the 14th Regiment of Dragoons was founded.  Five years later the Military  Lodge of the 14th Dragoons  was consecrated on the 3rd December 1756, as a lodge in the Grand Lodge of Ireland, the first Master being Robert Jones.

Founded 1988 UGLE, than 2004 – SGLOM

In the year 1090 Count Roger of Normandy landed in  Malta to oust the Arabs from the island. It is said that the colours of the Maltese national flag were given by Count Roger.
The Lodge bearing his name was consecrated  on the 25th October 1988. The Consecrating Officer was RW Bro Cdr. Michael B.S.Higham.

Founded 1991 Irish Constitution, than 2004 – SGLOM

Founded on 15th March 1991 as Fenici Lodge No. 906 (Irish Const). In 2004 transferred to Sovereign Grand Lodge of Malta. In darkness between 2009-2022, the lodge returned to Regularity on 23rd April 2022.

Founded 2003 as Hospitaliers Lodge 931 IC and 2004 as Hospitaliers Lodge V- SGLOM

The Hospitaliers Lodge No V was consecrated in August 2004 under the registry of the Grand Lodge of Ireland. In November of that year with the formation of the Sovereign Grand Lodge of Malta, the brethren of Hospitaliers Lodge together with the brethren of Leinster Lodge no 387, Abercorn Lodge No 273, Fenici Lodge No 903 all of the Irish Constitution and Count Roger of Normandy Lodge No 9265 of the UGLE determined to reform under the registry of the new Grand Lodge.

Evening Star Lodge No VIII is a Lodge for English Freemasons within the Sovereign Grand Lodge of Malta (SGLOM). To be a member you must be a continuing subscribing member of a UGLE Lodge.
The Lodge has particularly close relationships with the two English Lodges in Malta (St John and St Paul No 349 and De Rohan No 9670) and also with the Malta “Lodge of Improvement” (LOI).

The name Deae Matres recalls an ancient form of Deity and the pagan cult of the Mother Goddess, practiced throughout the Mediterranean, before the advent of Christianity and which ideally unites the island of Sardinia and that of Malta. The Lodge was founded specifically for Sardinian brethren who were already members of the Sovereign Grand Lodge of Malta and works in the Sardinian language.

Mario Mezzadri Lodge No. XIII

The Templaris Lodge No XIV was consecrated by the Grand Master of the Sovereign Grand Lodge of Malta on the 17th of November, 2023 following a lodge manifesto was prepared in May of the same year by the founding members of the Lodge that hail from different nationalities and religions. The Lodge meets nine times a year where ritual and lectures are conducted for the members of the Lodge and Visitors.
